The Senior 4 English Language course prepares South Sudanese students for the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) English exam. It is built directly from the official Ministry of General Education and Instruction Secondary English 4 Student Textbook and Teacher’s Guide, cross-checked against six years of real CSE past papers (2016–2025) to make sure every lesson and quiz reflects what students actually need for the exam.

What this course covers

The course is organised into 7 Units and 51 lessons, following the same structure as the real CSE exam: Composition, Grammar, Summary, and Comprehension. Alongside the textbook’s core content, the course adds dedicated lessons on grammar points that are tested in the exam but not fully covered in the textbook (such as comparatives and superlatives, gerunds, and reported speech), plus functional writing skills like personal letters, CVs, and formal reports.

Unit 1: Gender Issues (available now)

The first unit is complete and ready to study. It covers:

• Understanding gender discrimination and inequality
• Debating and discussing gender equity
• Researching and advocating for gender equality
• Grammar: comparatives & superlatives
• Storytelling and grammar: gerunds
• Functional writing: personal letters (appreciation & condolence)

Each lesson includes a short mini-quiz with randomised questions, and the unit ends with a comprehensive Final Assessment covering reading comprehension, grammar, and guided writing — mirroring the real exam.

Units 2–7 are in active development, covering further reading, grammar, and communication skills from the same official syllabus — including topics such as Culture and Society, Democracy, and Justice.
